UIM join forces with FIA, FIM & FAI on environment
Monaco, April 7th 2010: An historic first meeting of the four leading motorsport world governing bodies (FIA, FIM, FAI and UIM) took place on the 27th March at the Automobile Club de Monaco where common actions were discussed and agreement made to jointly focus on optimal use of resources and the reduction of noise and pollution.
The meeting, chaired by UIM President, Raffaele Chiulli, was attended by senior officers of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) and Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM).
“I’m really pleased that the UIM is continuing to be the engine of this important cooperation,” explained Dr Chiulli. “Sharing knowledge and best practices with other international motor sport federations and international institutions is pivotal to enhance environmental standards and achievements. We thank the FIA, FIM and FAI for their efforts and positive attitude. Working together will provide mutual value and benefits.”
During the meeting the UIM presented its Environmental Code, designed to promote environmental sustainable practices that take account of social, cultural and ecological responsibilities, now and for future generations.
The next joint operational meeting will be held in Arendal , Norway during mid July in conjunction with a round of the UIM Class1 World Powerboat Championship.
